Tool # 5; Web 2.0

Some very interesting tools listed that I've not aware of. One of my favorite is prezi. This tools allow you to create presentation through images and video. It's very useful in a classroom because students can create any kind of presentation individually or collaboratively and share by providing the given link. Here is something that I briefly put together about graphing linear functions.

Make Beliefs Comix is another useful tool for students to create mini project or a simple explanation of procedures in a classroom and email it to the teacher. It seems that this tool only allows the maximum of 4 panels, which is a positive thing. The restriction put students in a situation where they have to be precise to the point and not beating around the bush. I created a basic comic strip about solving equation.

Tool # 4; Google Apps

We used Google Docs to work collaboratively during one of our summer sessions. Together, we created an informative slideshows about teaching and learning through technology. Google Apps are very useful tools that let students share ideas or work together as a group to accomplish common goals, without face to face interaction.

Tool #3, Resources

Hosting/ streaming site mentioned in tool # 3 are all good, but the one I found most useful for my content is mathtv.com because it is organized by drop down by math topics, there are more than one person who teaches the same problem, and most videos include a Spanish version as an option for students who do not speak English. I do have an account with dropbox and it is very convenience to store files and access them anywhere from a computer, smart phone, or tablet. It is very useful when you create a share folder for your students to access files/ assignments from home.

Tool # 2; PLN

Publicly sharing my thoughts is something that I rarely do and feel somewhat uncomfortable. I guess maybe because I am not a social person or maybe because my grammar isn't that good. On the other hand, reading posts brought some new ideas that I was not aware of, such as Holly's post about diigo and www.freetech4teachers.com. They seem to be very interesting and I do plan to visit them in the future. Another site I will visit is tenmarks.com. I've used this site throughout the year to create algebra 1 assignments for my students to do at home to replace their missing assignments. cya @ tool # 3, peace out.
